Sony A7iii vs A7iv – Check Which One Is Best & Why?

Sony

Sony A7iv was released on October 21-2021 & A7ii was released on April 10-2018. Both DSLRs are amazing & have some similarities, but if you are looking for the best one for better performance, I would recommend the Sony A7iv rather than the A7iii.

Why Do I recommend the Sony A7iv?

  • Sony A7iv has 33 megapixels Camera sensor, whereas A7iiI has 24 megapixels APS-C sensor. A better megapixel camera helps to capture images & videos in higher resolution with more details.
  • Sony A7iv is built with a Bionz XR image processor, and A7iii is built with a Bionz X processor. Bionz XR processor is built to provide 8x more processing power than the previous BIONZ X, which will minimize latency and improve movie processing.
  • The screen resolution of the Sony A7iv is 1.440k dots which helps to display more detailed visual information than the Sony A7iii. It has only 922k dots screen resolution.
  • Sony a7iv contains 759 focus points, which helps to focus on 759 objects at the same time whereas the A7iii has 693 focus points.
  • You can Record the whole video in a single shot with Sony A7iv because it offers you unlimited video recording, but Sony A7iii only allows you 30 minutes for each shot.
  • Its Max Sensor Resolution is 7008 x 4672, whereas the Sony A7iii’s resolution is 6000 x 4000. Better sensor resolution helps to get a perfect shot with more details.
  • The Sony a7iv features Gyroscopic Stabilization. This feature helps you to record more Stabilize video in the process, but the Sony a7iii doesn’t have it. That means A7iii can’t give better video as A7iv.
  • You can Easily switch between Photo & Video Modes with Sony a7iv; Sony Aiii doesn’t allow you to switch the photo or video mode instantly.
  • It has a Lens Breathing Correction feature that helps to keep focused while a lens’s focal length changes. Sony A7iii doesn’t have this feature, that’s why it zooms in or out when the focal length is changed to focus again.
  • Sony a7iv includes an Anti-dust Shutter Mechanism that automatically closes the sensor section during a lens change, hence mitigating the risk of dust landing on the sensor.
  • It Supports CFexpress Card , this memory card used for flawless cinema-quality video footage, including 8K, 6K & 4K at high frame rates and bitrates, as well as RAW continuous-burst photos.
  • It has Multi Function hotshoe that you can use to attach a flash unit and other compatible accessories, A7iii Doesn’t have it.

Maybe the Sony A7iii price can make you comfortable because it’s a little bit cheaper than the A7iv. But you have to compromise all the above-mentioned features. Now the Decision is Yours. I hope it was helpful to choose the right one.
