Roborock s7 vs s8 – Check Which One Is Best & Why?

Robot vacuum cleaner

Roborock S8 was released in April 2023 & S7 was released in March 2021. Both Vacuums are amazing and have some similarities, but if you are looking for the best one for better performance, I would recommend the Roborock S8 rather than the S7.

Why Do I Recommend Roborock S8?

  1. The S8’s 3D mapping & Reactive 3D Obstacle Avoidance provide superior navigation, especially in cluttered or complex environments. This is particularly beneficial if your home has many obstacles or varied floor plans. S7 is limited to 2D.
  2. With 6000 Pa suction power compared to the S7’s 2500 Pa, the S8 is more effective at picking up dirt & debris, especially on carpets. If you have pets or need more intensive cleaning, the S8’s suction power is a significant advantage.
  3. The DuoRoller brush of S8 is better at handling pet hair &  prevents tangles, making it ideal for homes with pets. S7 Features a three-arm brush system.
  4. The VibraRise 2.0 technology in the S8 offers improved mopping, which can be a deciding factor if mopping performance is a priority. S7 Doesn’t have it.
  5. With a longer battery life, the S8 is better suited for larger homes. it can run 180 minutes, whereas S7 can run 150 minutes.
  6. The S8’s design includes subtle improvements and additional features like a front-facing flashlight, which might appeal to those who prefer the latest technology.
  7. S8 has a Scheduled Start Buttons. This button lets you program your robot vacuum to start automatically cleaning at a later time using the device’s buttons. S7 Doesn’t have it.

Maybe the Roborock S7 price can make you comfortable because it’s a little bit cheaper than the S8. But you have to compromise all the above-mentioned features. Now the Decision is Yours. I hope it was helpful to choose the right one.

Common Strengths of Both Robot Vacuum Cleaners

Both the Roborock S7 and S8 share several capabilities that make them effective and versatile robot vacuum cleaners:

  1. LiDAR Navigation: Both models are equipped with PreciSense Precision LiDAR Navigation, allowing them to map your home accurately and navigate efficiently.
  2. Vacuuming and Mopping: They can both vacuum and mop floors. This dual functionality makes them suitable for various types of flooring, including hardwood, tile, and carpet.
  3. Obstacle Detection and Avoidance: They are equipped with sensors to detect and avoid obstacles, although the S8’s Reactive 3D Obstacle Avoidance system is more advanced.
  4. Multi-Level Mapping: Both can store multiple maps, making them suitable for multi-story homes.
  5. App Control and Smart Home Integration: They can be controlled via a smartphone app, offering features like scheduling, real-time tracking, and custom cleaning modes. They also integrate with smart home systems for enhanced convenience.
  6. E11-Rated Filtration: Each model uses E11-rated filters that are washable, helping to reduce maintenance costs and capture a significant amount of allergens and particles.
  7. Large Dustbins: Both have large dustbins (470 ml for the S7 and 400 ml for the S8), reducing the frequency of emptying them.
  8. Extended Battery Life: They have long-lasting batteries, with the S8 having a slightly longer battery life (up to 180 minutes) compared to the S7 (up to 150 minutes).
  9. Selective Room Cleaning: Users can choose specific rooms for cleaning, which is particularly useful for larger homes or when certain areas require more frequent attention.
  10. No-Go Zones and Invisible Walls: Both models allow setting up virtual no-go zones and barriers through the app, giving users control over where the vacuum should or shouldn’t be cleaned.
  11. Automatic Recharge and Resume: When the battery runs low, they automatically return to their dock to recharge and then resume cleaning from where they left off.

These shared features make both the Roborock S7 and S8 versatile and efficient for a wide range of cleaning tasks, providing convenience and advanced cleaning capabilities in a robotic vacuum form.
